Insurance Verification
How does Insurance Verification work?
One check per patient coverage, deduplicated, charged once, with the result stored in Sera.
Quick answer
Sera runs an eligibility check against the patient's coverage and stores the result under Eligibility. Duplicate requests for the same patient and coverage collapse into one check and one charge.
- Only a completed check with a verification date counts as verified — a failed attempt never reads back as verified.
- Verified results can be written back into Open Dental as insurance verifications when you are Integrated.
- Patient-level detail requires your BAA to be executed — see "How do I sign our BAA?".
